Saint Apollinaria of Egypt (5th c.) was born into a wealthy Christian family in Rome but renounced worldly life to devote herself wholly to God. Disguising herself as a man under the name Dorotheus, she traveled to Egypt and entered a desert monastery, where she lived in prayer, fasting, and humility. Renowned for her wisdom and holiness, she healed many through her prayers, including her own sister, who did not recognize her in disguise. Only before her repose did Apollinaria reveal her true identity, leaving behind a legacy of courage, purity, and unwavering devotion to Christ. She is commemorated by the Church on January 5.y.
