In the Acts of the Apostles we read that: “God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that when the handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, their diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them” (Acts 19:11-12). Today Jesus acts in a special way through the intercession of this humble Maronite monk. His earthly life was veiled from the public and completely surrendered to God. He was fascinated by the love and mercy of God, who, in Jesus Christ became true man, died, and rose again for us and our salvation, and is truly present among us in the Eucharist.
The purpose of this book is first of all, to familiarize the reader with a small sample showing the richness of the tradition of the Eastern Churches based on the example of Saint Sharbel who was a member of the Maronite Church his whole life. Another reason is to show at least a bit of the ideal of monastic life in Lebanon based on the life example of this saint. Finally, the most important reason: to rely on conversion and healing testimonies to awaken in readers the faith necessary for healing, so that they can persevere in requesting this saint’s intercession. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thes 5:16-18).
