Plato of Ankyra, holy martyr

The Holy Martyr Plato, brother of the Holy Martyr Antiochus the Physician (Comm. 29 July), was born in the city of Ankyra in Galatia into a pious family. As a young man, he left home and walked through the cities, inspiringly preaching the Word of God to the pagans, surprising the audience with the persuasiveness and beauty of his speeches, deep knowledge of Hellenic learning. For his preaching, he was captured and brought to the temple of Zeus for trial before the ruler Agrippin.
