Icon of the Mother of God "Molchenskaya"

The legend tells the following about the circumstances of the appearance of the Molchenskaya Icon of the Mother of God. At the beginning of the XIV century, two monks came from the Kiev borders devastated by the Tatars to the land of Putivl and settled in a quiet and deserted place - in a cave on Mount Chudnaya near the Molchensky swamp. The hermits brought with them a wonderful image of the Most Holy Theotokos. After the death of the monks, they were buried in a cave built by them.
